The following feedback has been extracted from the many comments sent in over the years. We do have quite a few males who enrol (females seem more talkative when it comes to feedback).
"I am very passionate about the availability of distance education. One reason is because of my geographic isolation - not having a huge variety of courses to choose from living in a small town."
"Being that this is my final assessment, I wanted to let you know I have found this course to be very informative, easy to follow and easy to understand. I just hope I will retain all these new words! I would gladly study with you in the future, and recommend you to my friends."
"I chose distance education as the particular course I undertook was not available locally. The convenience of studying at the students own time and place appealed to me greatly. Through distance education we obtain the same benefits as face to face students as our tutor is only a telephone call away, if we run into difficulties. I highly recommend studying through distance education as the courses are many and varied."
"We have to be able to have our dreams. I would have liked to have worked in an office as a younger person but circumstances wouldn’t allow it. I like to study and it is something that I would always like to keep doing. Flexible delivery is important to me because it is convenient and I can do it in my own time."
"Just a quick email to thank you for putting me in touch with Gold Coast Medical Typing! Sue contacted me and I am now set up as a contractor and have just begun my first transcribing! I am so happy as this has come at a financially critical time in my life. The Advanced Medical Terminology course has gained me 2 jobs thus far ... what an amazing outcome! Thank you again."
"The main reason that I chose to do my course by distance education is because of the flexibility. Being a full-time shift worker with little flexibility in rostering it would be almost impossible to attend a course on campus."
"I’m pleased to have completed yet another course through the Distance Learning Program. The reason I chose Distance Learning was that I live 45 kms from town and with a family, casual work and busy life style, I didn't have a lot of time to be travelling in and out to attend courses - evening courses I didn't like the drive home of a night by myself and it is expensive travel wise. With Distance Learning I am able to work at my own pace in my own time as I am a very motivated person I found this means of study suited me very well."
"I chose to complete a long distance course simply because I found that the face to face courses I was interested in didn't work in with my daughters childcare days and times. It is very frustrating from a mother’s point of view when you are trying to better yourself but find it near impossible because of this. So by having the opportunity to do both at home worked out brilliantly for me. And I found the tutor to be very helpful, it was great to feel comfortable in contacting her whenever I was stuck. I would definitely complete another long distance course."
"The mail only gets delivered three times a week and can’t get through at all if it’s raining as we are on a dirt road. The phones were out last week, so I couldn’t phone through part of the assignment. Thank you for the opportunity to do the course – can’t wait to see what is next."
"I chose distance learning for lifestyle convenience - time management, cost effectiveness, freedom, ease of correspondence and communication via internet or phone, no transport hassles, no makeup classes for illness/emergency - just email the situation and ask for extension. You seem to have more control over what you want to get out of the course."
"I am currently a devoted full time mum, and am doing this course to further educate myself and give myself a new avenue to head down when my seven month old daughter is old enough to be put into preschool a couple of days a week and I can return to the workforce. By studying at home it doesn’t disrupt my lifestyle and routine with my daughter."
"I found LGTC to be student friendly and the staff were always available at the end of the phone line or promptly returned my e-mails. The study resources were easy to understand and follow. I enjoyed my study as it was uncomplicated and in plain English even though I was studying medical terminology which was like learning a second language to me. Correspondence study with LGTC was a happy experience and I would recommend Lesley's training to anyone looking to gain employment skills."
"Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my assignment. I have enjoyed this course immensely. I have actually been so inspired that I have applied to University for a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Now that my daughter is more independant, I want to pursue a lifelong dream. Once again, Thank you so much for your help and the kind words of encouragement. I will be recommending this course to everyone I know that is interested."
"Hello Judy, I hope you are well! I have just received my certificate of attainment and just want to say a very very big thank you for all your support and especially your patience throughout this skill set, there were definitely times where I had been slow in handing in assessments and you were so lovely about it !!! It has been a pleasure "working" with you also :) All the best, Vicky"
"I enjoyed working on the course in my own time and having more time to return to questions when you have thought them out in a clearer fashion. I most enjoyed the fact that there were no other people who weren't as interested in the course as I was, creating a difficult place to learn. I did not feel I was on my own as you were available for questions at any time. Thanking you for the opportunity."
"I would just like to thank you for the opportunity to further my education in such a convenient was as I feel that by distant learning programs such as these suit people like myself with young families. I hope to complete another course soon and so I will be in touch. Thanks again."
"This is the first time I have done a course via correspondence and was extremely pleased with it. I’m a single mum of 4 sons and being able to do these courses without going to a classroom is exciting and rewarding."
"Hi Judy, thought I would let you know that I have a job finally. I wandered into a local medical clinic and showed them my resume and it was passed onto the General Manager in charge of 12 medical clinics. She interviewed me and now I have a job as a medical receptionist 3 days per week ... I will also have the opportunity to step up to 2IC when the practice manager is absent. Just wanted to say thanks for being available to use as a referee in the past and for taking an interest."
"I wanted to say thank-you for all the help you have given me over the past 12 weeks even though I had a bit of a rough start you helped out a lot. Thanks again for answering and helping with the questions."
"Returning to study after so many years was a worry. I wasn’t sure if I could handle driving a distance and studying on top of everything else. This way I am enabled to study when I have the time and study at my pace. Distance Learning was the only way I could do my course and continue with my other responsibilities."
"I had been wanting to do this course for some time but time constraints did not allow classroom attendance. The tutor was accessible, helpful and understanding as well, much to my relief."
